In 2021 long-time Sundog farm crew member Carlos Williams started raising and marketing meat chickens on the farm, and in 2022 is expanding that enterprise into his own business: Williams’ Topsoil. Carlos will be more than tripling the number of pasture-raised chickens he raises in 2022, which will be offered for pre-order to his email list (join below!) and to members of Local Harvest CSA.

This week is the 5th week of the summer CSA season so if you’re a member of the summer CSA you can pick up your chicken order with your CSA share. If you’re not a member of the summer CSA you’re still invited to place a chicken order, and pick it up from one of our locations!

North Liberty Community Pantry (89 N Jones Blvd) THURSDAY 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Iowa City- Fiddlehead Gardens (1947 Waterfront Dr) THURSDAY 5:15 – 6:30 pm

Red Ranger whole chickens (5-7 pounds)- $6/pound

The Red Rangers have more dark meat, and would be great for roasting.

Cornish Cross whole chickens (3-4 pounds)- $5/pound

The Cornish Cross are your standard chicken, and are good for anything.

Cornish Cross pieced chickens (3-4 pounds)- $5/pound + $1.60 processing fee

Cornish Hens whole chickens (1-2 pounds)- $5/pound

The Cornish Hens could be a personal chicken, and are good on the grill.
